Traversing the Road to Camp
Rapidan Fire Road is an unimproved roadway and does not feature a maintained hard surface. Users should anticipate uneven terrain, including exposed rocks, ruts, and narrow sections. Road conditions vary according to weather conditions. Depending on the season, you may encounter standing or moving water, as well as snow and ice.
It is advisable to use vehicles with above-average ground clearance, SUVs, or trucks throughout the year. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended during winter months or when snow or ice is anticipated. There have been significant snowfall and icy conditions in the fall and early spring.
Electric Vehicles at Camp
It is generally not recommended to drive an electric vehicle (EV) to camp. However, if you intend to do so, please take note of the following considerations:
Individuals planning to drive an EV to camp and intending to charge it on site are required to notify Camp President, JD Foster, or Camp Registrar, Millie Jones, prior to confirming and submitting payment for their reservation.
